“And the serpent was cunning above every beast of the field…” (Genesis 3:1)
He didn’t come with a sword.
He didn’t deny God’s existence.
He simply said: “Did God really say…?”
From the very beginning, deception began with doubt, not denial.
Not anti-God—but almost God.
The Pattern of the Serpent
Every distortion follows the same cycle:
- Twist the Word of God
- Insert a false promise
- Lead people away from obedience
“Ye do not surely die…” (Genesis 3:4)
It worked in Eden.
It worked in the wilderness.
It worked in Rome.
It still works today.
He Doesn’t Need to Be Obvious
That’s the danger.
The serpent doesn’t need to make you an atheist—
just convince you God changed.
- That the law was replaced
- That the Sabbath is Sunday
- That the feasts were for Jews
- That obedience is legalism
- That your feelings are your guide
None of those are written.
All are widely believed.
“My people have been destroyed for lack of knowledge.” (Hosea 4:6)
Jesus Faced the Same Voice
In the wilderness, the serpent spoke again—
through twisted scripture.
“It hath been written…” (Matthew 4:6)
But Jesus responded each time:
“It hath been written again…” (Matthew 4:7)
He restored the balance—not by emotion, but by structure.
By truth.
What the Serpent Wants
He doesn’t want worship—
he wants you off pattern.
Off calendar.
Off covenant.
Off rhythm.
Off trust.
Because once the structure collapses…
…people follow whatever feels good.
