God’s Everlasting Covenant

“My covenant will I not profane, Nor alter the thing that hath gone forth from My lips.” (Psalm 88:35 [Brenton LXX])

Most believers today were taught that:

  • The “Old Testament” was for Israel.
  • The law was burdensome.
  • Jesus replaced it all with grace.

But that’s not what Scripture says.

God’s covenant is everlasting.
And Jesus came not to destroy it—but to fulfill, teach, and live it.

What Is God’s Covenant?

A covenant is not a contract.
It is a sacred promise, built on:

  • Words
  • Blood
  • Obedience
  • Love

From Adam to Noah, Abraham to Moses, and renewed through Jesus, God’s covenant has always had the same goal:

To walk with a people in truth, holiness, and love.

Did Jesus Abolish the Covenant?

No. Jesus said:

“Think not that I came to destroy the law or the prophets—I did not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” (Matthew 5:17, YLT)

To “fulfill” means to complete and embody, not cancel.

Jesus lived by every word of God:

  • He taught Torah
  • He walked in the commandments
  • He upheld the feasts
  • He showed what covenant love looks like

The new covenant didn’t replace the old.
It wrote the same words on hearts instead of stone.

Why Do People Reject It?

Because they were taught law equals legalism.
But scripture says:

“The law is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good.” (Romans 7:12, YLT)

Lawlessness isn’t freedom.
It’s rebellion.

The enemy twists the word “law” to sever people from God’s structure.

But covenant was always rooted in love:

“If ye may love Me, My commands keep.” (John 14:15, YLT)

Covenant Still Stands

The covenant:

  • Was not given just to Jews
  • Was not nailed to the cross
  • Was not replaced by a Roman church or rebranded religion

It remains:

  • Everlasting (Genesis 17:7, Exodus 31:16)
  • Holy (Psalm 105:8, Hebrews 8)
  • Written in the heavens (Psalm 89:34–37 LXX)

Closing Reflection

If Jesus kept the covenant—
If He taught it, fulfilled it, and bled to renew it—
Then why would we walk outside of it?

Return to covenant.
Return to truth.
Return to the One who never changed.
